Bond County Coroner Tony Brooks recently presented his annual report to the county board.
The coroner’s office conducted 36 investigations into deaths in 2013 and received reports of 65 hospice deaths. Thirty-two cremation permits were issued last year.
Of the 101 deaths documented by the coroner, 98 were from natural causes, one was a suicide, one was an accidental death, and one was from unknown causes.
Coroner Brooks obtained 78 hours of training in 2013, far surpassing the required 24 hours of continuing education. He participated in four programs last year. The Deputy Coroner received 50 hours of training.
