The Greenville Fire Department was paged to Buchheit on Rt. 40 at 2:24 Friday afternoon, following a report of concrete chips falling from the ceiling. Firemen evacuated all customers and employees and secured the entrance area to the store as a safety precaution.
Buchheit Manager Matt Seabaugh told WGEL Friday afternoon that the snow load had caused some safety concerns, but that nothing had fallen.
The building is owned by the City of Greenville.
Greenville City Manager Dave Willey told WGEL Monday that the Korte Company in Highland provided contact information for a shoring company the city could use to stabilize the roof. By 11:00 p.m. Friday the roof was stabilized and the store opened for business as usual on Saturday.
Willey said the roof remains stabilized as the City pursues a repair. Buchheit is open for business as usual.
