Madison County Coroner Stephen P. Nonn reports that the investigation surrounding the death of Roxanna High School student, 16-year-old Samantha D. Owsley, of East Alton, has been concluded and ruled accidental.
Owsley was killed in a crash when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on Buchta Road in Bethalto on November 9. Four juvenile passengers in the car were ejected and were all transported either by helicopter or ambulance to area hospitals. Owsley was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation determined that Owsley was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. Toxicology testing reported negative for alcohol and drugs.
