Students and staff of the Bond County Unit 2 School District are receiving emergency response training with a new program that launched this year. Greenville High School Principal Wendy Porter told us Jill Young, a nurse and mother of Unit 2 students, brought the program to the Unit 2 School Board at the beginning of the year. Young has worked with Unit 2 School Nurse Carisa Bohannon to train every other grade starting with third graders at Greenville Elementary School. All staff, including cooks and bus drivers, have also been trained.
Porter told us the emergency response training focuses primarily on responding to health emergencies that require assistance such as CPR or the use of an AED.
