Fast-Rite International, Inc., a supplier of fasteners, stampings, fittings and assemblies, and inventory management programs to manufacturers all over the USA and Mexico, has announced they have acquired the building currently occupied by Maredy Candy in the Wolf Business Park at 1791 Samuel Andrews Drive in Greenville, IL.
The modern 30,000 square foot facility, expandable to 120,000 sq. foot, will be used to serve Fast-Rite’s customers in Central / Southern Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, and Tennessee, and to serve future growth in these areas. Headquartered in Glendale Heights, IL, Fast-Rite also has operations near El Centro, CA. Another new facility is planned for the Laredo, TX area in 2014.
“Fast-Rite is a great fit for the Wolf Business Park and is an example of leveraging solid relationships in the commercial brokerage industry to land a project in Greenville,” said Greenville Economic Development Coordinator Scott Lurkins. “I heard about this project, made one trip to visit them in Chicago, and it took off from there.”
According to Lurkins, he worked closely with the buyer’s broker agent to make the case for the Greenville location. “Compared to other projects, this one came together fairly quickly”, he added. Maredy Distribution has operated out of the Wolf Park facility for several years prior to this transaction. Lurkins commented the facility provides Fast-Rite with access to major downstate accounts. Lurkins said, “This project was all about working with the company to map their supply chain and prove that Greenville aligned with their business model and will provide long term value.”
The Wolf Park location was chosen for its ideal transportation with access to multiple class 1 railroads and immediate interstate access, said George Woods, President of Fast-Rite International, Inc. “Just as important, we found that Greenville is an ideal family–friendly environment for our employees who will run the facility”, said Woods, “And that’s important to us, we’re a family-oriented company. Greenville’s cost of living is reasonable but the quality of life is high. We expect our people to be very happy there.”
Fast-Rite will primarily rely on area residents for staffing this distribution facility. Visit the Fast-Rite web site at www.fast-rite.com for job postings. Recruiting will begin locally starting this month, and the facility will be open and ready for business in late February.
