Illinois State Police are reporting a fatal accident on Rt. 127 at about 2:50 a.m. Wednesday morning. According to a state police spokesman, two individuals traveling on 127 near the Greenville Airport ran out of gas and walked away from their vehicle. One of the pedestrians – a female – was struck and killed by a vehicle whose driver was heading to go goose hunting. State Police say the driver of that vehicle was not under the influence of alcohol and no charges are expected.
No additional information has been made available at this time. The identities of those involved have not been released, pending notification of family.
