At the Monday night Kingsbury Park District committee meeting it was decided to recommend the board set a date for a bond hearing at the next regular board meeting, scheduled for February 10. One of the projects the bond monies could be used for is land acquisition.
Park District Director Jerry Sauerwein told the committee that he was still waiting to hear about two grants. One grant could be used for outside projects up to $800,000 with the park district matching 50%. The second grant could be used for indoor or outdoor projects that would include building structures, with an 80/20 match, with the park district paying the 20%. Sauerwein told the committee that the soccer numbers keep going up and there is a great need for additional room for fields.
Other projects funded by the possible bonds could include the purchase of a new truck, concrete around the field house at Jaycee Park, curbing at the back of the field house, line upgrades, and a new liner for the pool. Sauerwein expressed an interest in an 18-hole disc golf course at Patriots Park.
All upgrades except land acquisition would be around $182,000.
The committee also expressed an interest in finding more activities for youth and adults.
