Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department Warns Of Scams

Montgomery County Sheriff James Vazzi warns of an increase in the number of citizen complaints concerning scams.

The most popular scams appear to be messages sent using text, email, and telephone saying the person’s bank or credit card account has be compromised, frozen, or terminated, asking the person to call a number to release the account or have the problem fixed.

Sheriff Vazzi said if you should receive such a message, do not call the number and never give personal information over the phone to someone you do not know. Instead contact your bank to have them check your account and call your local law enforcement agency.
