National Radon Action Month Declared

The Environmental Protection Agency has declared January 2014 as “National Radon Action Month.” Radon is a naturally-occurring, invisible, and odorless radioactive gas that can be found at high levels in one of every 15 American homes. Radon caused more American fatalities last year than carbon monoxide, fires, and handguns combined.

If a home hasn’t been tested for radon in the past two years, the EPA and the Surgeon General urge you to take action. Contact your regional radon office for information on locating qualified test kits or qualified radon testers at 394-2233 or visit www.RadonMonth.org to learn more.
