Thousands Apply For Concealed Carry Permits On Day One

Illinois State Police officials say more than 4,500 people applied for concealed carry permits on the first day the website went live.  Sunday was the first day the general public could fill out the form as part of the state’s new concealed carry law.  Officials think as many as 400,000 people might apply for the permits that allow gun owners to carry weapons in many public places.  State police have a few months to approve or deny an application, which requires fingerprints, 16 hours of gun training, and a firearm owner’s card.
