An active weather pattern will take shape this weekend with two storm systems bringing a variety of winter weather to the Midwest. A wave of precipitation is expected to develop and move northeast across Missouri and into Illinois this afternoon and evening. Temperatures appear to be just cold enough to support snow from central Missouri through Illinois. At this time snow accumulations of less than an inch are forecast area-wide, but locally higher amounts are possible. The next storm system will take shape Saturday night with several rounds of winter precipitation expected through Sunday night. This winter storm will be capable of producing significant accumulations of ice, sleet, and snow across the region, causing major impacts to travel plans.
