Greenville teenager Anastasia Baird has been volunteering with the Bond County Humane Society for more than two years now and has become passionate about supporting the organization. Anastasia told us to celebrate her 14th birthday, she requested donations for the humane society in lieu of birthday gifts.
“The humane society has been having funding issues lately and they haven’t really been having very many volunteers,” Anastasia told WGEL. “So I decided at my birthday party, instead of getting birthday presents, to put out a box for kids to put money in for the humane society, and we put out volunteer sheets so that people can sign up for it.
Anastasia said she appreciates the work the humane society does to provide safe homes for stray animals.
