January 2014 Precipitation

In January 2014, Greenville got just seven tenths of an inch of rain but we got 17.3 inches of snow. When compared with records from the past 47 years, rainfall is considerably less than the average of 2.26 inches but we got much more than the average snowfall of 6.02 inches. The most January rain fell in 2005 with 8.47 inches and there was no rain in January 1986 and 1977. The most snow was 26.5 inches in January 1979. Four years showed no January snow in Greenville.
