One Vehicle Accident On Rt. 140 Sends One To Hospital

A Bond County Sheriff’s Deputy, Pocahontas-Old Ripley EMS, and Pocahontas-Old Ripley Firefighters responded Thursday, at 8:09 p.m., to a single-vehicle accident on Rt. 140 just east of Terrapin Ridge Road.  According to the accident report, Thomas G. Cook, age 60, of Benld, Illinois was eastbound on Rt. 140 in a 1989 Chevrolet when he saw a deer or dog in the road and he swerved to avoid the animal.  He drove off the right side of the road at a left hand curve and his vehicle struck a tree.  Pocahontas-Old Ripley EMS took Cook to Greenville Regional Hospital.
