At this week’s Unit 2 School Board meeting the board set May 23 as this year’s graduation date along with June 5 as the last day of student attendance. Because of the amount of snow days used this year the board approved school to be in session Monday, March 3 and Tuesday, April 22. These were both days the district planned to have off.
The board approved the Varsity Girls Tennis team to take an overnight trip to Cincinnati, OH to watch a professional tennis tournament and the FFA student officers to take an overnight trip to Indiana for a chapter visit program.
The district received a little over $800,000 in payments in January and it was noted by Superintendent Strieker that of the just over $5.1 million due the district from the state, all but $470,000 has been received.
Board Vice President Scott Gaffner told the board the maintenance grant that was applied for was not awarded to the district. The district is still up for an energy efficient grant that would be in the amount of $50,000 that would help go towards the new HVAC system that is needed for the high school media area.
