With a 20 percent increase in winter energy usage over last year, Ameren is offering discounted home energy audits to help increase energy efficiency and lower costs. Ameren Spokesperson Marcelyn Love gave us a few examples of what the home energy audits might find.
“Just by turning the thermostat down a couple degrees in the case of winter or up a little bit in the summer, you could really start to save on your bill,” Love told WGEL. “Other simple measures such as using ceiling fans and allowing that to help circulate the air throughout the home can really save. In the winter, you can take advantage of the sunlight to help to warm up the home a little bit. You can also do things like air sealant or the window seal to really increase the comfort level in your home.”
Love said Ameren is now offering a comprehensive diagnostic for $25. Ameren is also offering rebates for new energy-saving equipment including some programmable thermostats and power strips. For more information, visit their website atwww.actonenergy.com
