Because record cold temperatures have caused a 20 percent increase in winter energy usage over last year, Ameren is offering options to help manage those expenses. Spokesperson for Ameren, Marcelyn Love, told us they’ve developed a special payment plan to help customers with past due balances.
From now until the end of the month, customers can set up a payment agreement with just 10 percent down and then the remaining amount will come in monthly installments,” Love told WGEL. “Beginning April 1st, customers will be required to pay 25 percent of the total amount owed before being able to establish a monthly payment plan.”
Love said Ameren also offers budget billing, a program where customers have the same amount due each month, based on a 12-month average. For more information or to enroll, call Ameren at 1-800-755-5000.
