County Clerk’s Recording Computer System Back Up And Running

A few weeks ago one of the main computer systems at the Bond County Clerk and Recorder’s office went down, delaying abstract work, loan applications, and land purchases. County Clerk Randy Reitz told WGEL the system is now back up and running.

“I would like to take an opportunity to apologize for the inconvenience of what has been going on for the last couple of weeks,” Reitz told WGEL. “Our hardware for the recording system went down, but by working with some very good people with a forensic program, the documents were brought back up. Now the abstractors can search records, copy records, and finish their job so that sales can go through, loans can be made. We’re back up to normal and I want to thank everybody for taking the time and working with us also.”

Reitz said he has been looking into some options for a more updated and user friendly computer program and is hopeful the county will be in good enough financial shape to upgrade the system in the near future.
