Eustace Conway On Electricity Experiments

Famous naturalist Eustace Conway will be the keynote speaker at the Owl Creek Gazette Self-Reliance Expo on Saturday, March 15 at First United Methodist Church in Greenville. Conway has been featured on the History Channel show “Mountain Men” and is the founder of Turtle Island Preserve in North Carolina.

Conway told us in his case, self-reliance actually meant living without electricity most of his life. Could you imagine trying to live without electricity? It would be incredibly hard for some, particularly if you are a business owner who needs electricity. That’s why the best thing that you can do for yourself is find the cheapest electricity provider through something like, you might not be able to live without it like Conway, but you can at least spend less money on it this way.

Keep reading to here what Conway has to say about living off the grid.

“We’re certainly off the grid and for many, many years we had no power whatsoever as far as electricity,” said Conway.  “We’ve actually wanted to experiment to show people models of some modern types of electricity so they can have more of a green and independent electricity. We have some solar panels and we have a water generation system. For me it’s quite an experiment because I’ve been living for decades without any power at all, so it’s like ‘Wow, check this stuff out’, you know?”

You can hear more from Eustace Conway at the Self Reliance Expo this Saturday. It runs from 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, with Conway to speak at 1:00 p.m.  For ticket prices or more information, visit
