NWS Offers Tips For Severe Weather Awareness Week

Monday marked the beginning of Illinois Severe Weather Awareness Week. Meteorologist Jim Kramper with the National Weather Service will be sharing tips with us throughout the week on how to deal with severe weather.

“The first part of this whole situation is to have a good source for getting weather information,” Kramper told WGEL. “Have a source, not just one, maybe a couple handy that you can rely on to get your weather forecast and warnings so you can check that and find out what’s going on. Then once you have that information, you have to know what to do, so you have to think of that ahead of time. Wherever you’re at, try to think, what do I need to do?”

Kramper said being prepared is the best way to deal with severe weather.
