Additional Details Released On Capture Of Inmate

Bond County sheriff Jeff Brown has released more details on the capture of 30-year-old Andrew J. Walker, of Pierron, who allegedly escaped the Bond County Jail last week.

After receiving reports from several citizens, three Bond County deputies were searching for Walker in Pierron Monday morning, April 21, when he was spotted driving an allegedly stolen vehicle. Sheriff Brown told WGEL Walker attempted to disguise himself in women’s clothing and makeup, which he allegedly stole from a home he burglarized. Brown said Walker ultimately drew more attention to himself with his disguise.

Deputies said as soon as they turned on their emergency lights, Walker led them on a vehicle chase north out of Pierron. Brown said Walker’s speed throughout the chase ranged from 80 to 100 miles per hour. After six miles, Walker jumped out of his vehicle and was pursued by deputies on foot until he reached a steep bank creek where he was apprehended.
