Unit 2 School Board Approves New Math Series

After a presentation from several teachers on the need for a new math curriculum which would include new text books, the Unit 2 School Board approved a motion to purchase a new math series. With the approval of the financial report, it was noted that the district received several payments in March which totaled a little over $1.1 million.

In a collective vote the board approved several items that included leaves of absence and resignations that included the resignation of high school math teacher Jay Winter, along with the approval of an overnight trip for the varsity boys’ and girls’ basketball teams to separate events.

After a presentation from Mike Wilhite at a special meeting, the board approved several items for Buildings & Grounds that included a new dishwasher system for GES, rooftop HVAC for GHS, auditorium roof repair at GHS, a Hena Street culvert, GES playground equipment, and summer staffing. It was noted that grant money was used for some of this work, and with rebates submitted, the work will cost less than projected. The new playground equipment was funded by the PTO at GES.

The board also approved the acquisition of a used full-size lift bus, not to exceed $28,500, and a new full-size passenger bus to be leased at a cost not to exceed $79,610.
