Bond County Home Health & Hospice Names Volunteer Of The Year

Bond County Home Health & Hospice recently held their Volunteer of the Year Luncheon at the Bond County Health Department.

“We always pick one that kind of goes above and beyond, one that generally never tells us ‘no’, one that accepts every position with compassion, and really connects with the family — makes an effort to connect and really seeks out their needs,” Volunteer and Bereavement Coordinator Karen File told us. “And this year we chose Pat Sutton as our Volunteer of the Year.

“Pat has been involved in hospice for over 20-some years. She’s had over 50-some patients that she’s taken care of.  And when you are a hospice volunteer, you take care not only of the patient, but you also take care of the caretaker and the family — you keep an eye on them. She’s done a very good job of that and traveled many miles for us. We appreciate Pat and we congratulate her this year as our Volunteer of the Year.”

File said last year’s award recipient, Reva Smith, passed on the Volunteer of the Year pin to Pat Sutton. Five-year service pins were also awarded to Erin O’Toole and Jeanne Zbinden. If you’re interested in volunteering with the Bond County Hospice, call Karen at 664-5020.
