Greenville Mayor Alan Gaffner presents Emde with an official proclamation and the key to the city.

A contingent of motorcycle riders, led by A.M.A. Hall of Famer Don Emde, made an appearance in Greenville Friday afternoon to commemorate the 1914 first ever cross country bike ride of the legendary Cannonball Baker.

Baker road his Indian model motorcycle from San Diego California to New York City in 11 days one hundred years ago. Greenville was one of Baker’s stops along the way and on Friday Greenville Mayor Alan Gaffner welcomed the riders that were following the same route in 2014.
