Conservation Department Warns Of Tick Danger

Summertime means outdoor activities like camping and hiking for many, but that also means keeping an eye out for ticks.  The Department of Conservation has issued a reminder to wear long sleeves and pants, going so far as tucking the cuffs into socks with rubber bands or tape. After being outdoors, people are urged to take a shower, wash clothes, and check for ticks. Tick-borne illnesses like Lyme disease are transferred after the tick feeds for awhile, so the quicker they are removed, the smaller the chance of infection.
