In their most recent meeting, the Mulberry Grove Unit 1 School Board accepted the resignations of both Superintendent Mike Gauch and Mulberry Grove High School Principal Ryan Bauer. Bauer is taking over his family’s farm operation and Gauch has accepted a superintendent position in Harrisburg, IL, where he can be closer to family.
Ryan Bauer told WGEL that the Mulberry Grove School District has been fortunate to have had Gauch as superintendent.
“Mr. Gauch and I came to work here at the same time, 13 years ago,” Bauer said. “He was my boss at that time, as principal and I was a teacher. He then moved into the superintendent position and I took over as principal. It’s just been a great working relationship over the years.
“Our school district has been very lucky to have him for such a long time. Unfortunately, Mulberry Grove is sometimes a stepping stone and we’ve been, again, very lucky to have him for 13 years.”
Both Bauer’s and Gauch’s resignations are effective at the end of the current school year.
