Tractor Fire North Of Route 40

Mulberry Grove Firefighters responded Thursday, at 1:37 p.m. to a report of a tractor fire. According to Fire Chief Dwight Volkmar, a farmer was disking in a field about half a mile north of Rt. 40 east of Mulberry Grove in the Hurricane Creek bottom. He was driving a 1978 International 4558 4-wheel drive tractor when a malfunction in the engine caused the engine to catch fire. The fire totaled the engine and the cab causing damage valued at approximately $20,000.00. There were no injuries and firefighters were on the scene about 45 minutes.
