Volunteers In The Final Stretch On Habitat For Humanity House

Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity will be putting final touches on the newest house in Sorento over the next month. Eric Watterson, with the Bond County chapter of Habitat for Humanity, said there are still plenty of opportunities to help.

“Lots of people know how to hold a paintbrush, and we’ve still got quite a lot of painting to do,” Watterson said. “We’re going to be laying down a laminate floor. That will take a lot of hands to get involved in that. It’s not a particularly skilled task. We’ll have supervisors give good directions, but that’s something that people can jump in on.

“So there’s still things to do and new volunteers can always come.”

Watterson said recently volunteers insulated the attic, installed the HVAC system, and have been working on the interior. He said he expects the house to be completely finished by the middle of July. To get involved by making a donation or volunteering call Watterson at 322-0080.
