As part of Lightning Safety Awareness Week, Ameren Illinois wants to remind everyone to stay away from all down power lines. Ameren Spokesperson Brian Bretsch told us more.
“When storms roll into an area, like the Greenville area, there’s always a potential for an outage and in particular when lightning strikes, that can cause an outage,” Bretsch said. “We just always remind people to please, please stay away from all downed power lines and always assume that when you see a downed power line that those lines could be energized.”
Bretsch said if you see a down power line in your yard or your neighbor’s yard, you should notify Ameren Illinois by calling 1-800-755-5000.
