The Greenville Regional Hospital Auxiliary has announced total sales of $15,083.94 from their annual book fair, held last Thursday through Saturday at the Greenville First Christian Church.
The early bird admission special on Thursday evening generated a record-breaking amount of $7,831. Over 160 people attended the book fair from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday night. The largest single purchase during that time was over $500 and several individual transactions were reported over $300.
At the conclusion of the sale, organizers say they sold all of their DVDs, Western books, and science fiction books. Over 90% of the children’s and romance books were sold. Religious books that were unsold were donated to several ministries.
Auxiliary officials report they are extremely pleased with the results, especially in light of technological advances like Kindles and iPads rapidly replacing traditional books.
