County Board Approves Liquor Licenses And Bridge Inspection

The Bond County Board met in regular session Tuesday and approved liquor license renewals for Willie’s Place, Nuby’s Steakhouse, the Family Vine, D-Mill, and Hacienda Jalisco.

The board accepted the resignation of George Shaw from the Bond County Board of Review and announced that the Democratic Party Chair had recommend Travis Gorline as a replacement. Gorline’s appointment will be made official in the board’s next meeting.

Bond County Highway Engineer Jeremy Pestle told the board the county has 48 bridges that are behind schedule for inspection.  The board voted to hire McDonough-Whitlow, P.C. to conduct those inspections for a fee not to exceed $9,600.

Pestle also reported the North Pokey Bridge has been paved and work on the shoulders and guard rails should be complete.  The Highway Department has a bit more work to do with ditch lining, which should be complete in a few weeks.

Treasurer Katie Weiss said the state had finalized work on 2013 property taxes for Bond County and they will stand as they are now.  Her office will have them in a week or two and Weiss said she expects the timeline for payments to be the same as it was last year.
