In their meeting Tuesday evening, the Bond County Board approved a preliminary engineering agreement with HM & G Engineering for a new bridge on New Douglas Road. The measure passed 4-to-1 with board member Gerald “Spanky” McCray voting “no”. McCray expressed concern over the quality of work done by HM & G on previous projects. Bond County Highway Engineer Jeremy Pestle said he believed previous issues may have been caused by miscommunication between HM & G and previous highway department officials.
The board also approved a $3,000 expense for striping of the New Douglas Road.
Travis Gorline was unanimously approved for appointment to the Bond County Zoning Board of Appeals. Gorline will fill the unexpired term of the late Kraig Hudson. The reappointment of Health Board Members Dr. William Ahern and Dr. Matt McCullough was announced and will be made official in the board’s next regular meeting.
