Pippa Middleton Passing Through Greenville

Local cycling enthusiast Gunner Decker of Salem encourages lead rider Christoph Strasser, of Austria, as Strasser leaves Greenville.

The Race Across America has become, over 30 years, an international attraction for cyclists and has become a successful platform for raising money for charitable causes.

Leaving Oceanside, California on June 10th, the bicycle ride is making its 33rd annual trek across the United States and the lead rider from Austria, Christoph Strasser, passed through Greenville last weekend. Other bicyclists and support vehicles will make their way through the area throughout this week.

Riders are entering Greenville on Rt. 140, pedaling up Mill Hill, down to Harris Avenue, and heading toward Mulberry Grove on Rt. 40.

One of the bicyclists whose team will make their way through Greenville this week is Pippa Middleton, younger sister of Kate Middleton. Kate Middleton is Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, wife of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, the son of Princess Diana.

Pippa is part of an eight-person cycling team raising funds for the British Heart Foundation and the Michael Matthews Foundation. You can find out more on her fundraising page, www.JustGiving.com/PippaMiddleton.

You can track Pippa and the other Race Across America riders’ progress at www.raceacrossamerica.org.
