Senior Center Fundraising Continues

Senior Center Director Anna Oestreich addresses those attending last week's groundbreaking for the Frank & Susan Watson Community Building.

The Bond County Senior Center held a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday for the new addition to their building, which will be known as the Frank & Susan Watson Community Building. During the ceremony, it was announced that fundraising for the project had generated over $514,000 so far.

“I’d like to see about another $150,000 raised,” Senior Center Director Anna Oestreich told WGEL. “Hopefully over the next few months we’ll be able to do that. We have certainly enough to cover our expenses so that will ease the facilitation of the construction, but we do need that little bit more. We’re just about that much short yet.

“If anybody would like to write a check for that amount, we’d appreciate it – or any amount, really any amount – we will recognize anyone for any donation of any kind. We appreciate it and look forward to continuing our service here.”
