A grant to the Pocahontas-Old Ripley Fire Protection District will allow the department to offer all sessions necessary for firefighters to become state certified as a Basic Operations Firefighter. Firefighters may sharpen their skills or learn new and more efficient skills for the all-important task of emergency response. Sessions begin Thursday, July 17 and will be on selected Thursday nights and Saturday mornings. This free education opportunity is for all Pocahontas-Old Ripley volunteers, members of neighboring fire departments, and residents of the Pocahontas-Old Ripley Fire Protection District who are interested in becoming firefighters. For more information or to register, call Office Manager Kathy Brink at 530-7115.
