The Bond County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity will put the finishing touches on their latest home in Sorento Friday and Saturday and are planning a special home blessing ceremony Saturday night.
“The Habitat house up in Sorento is very, very close to being done,” Eric Watterson, with the local Habitat chapter, told WGEL. “Friday and Saturday we’re going to kind of ‘blitz’ the house and try to get lots of those little things finished.
“Saturday night, after the Sorento Homecoming parade, we will hold our house blessing. That will be probably about 7:30 or so. The blessing ceremony is simply to bless the house and thank everybody for their participation and, of course, commit the house to God as a place of rest and respite for our new family in that community.”
The new Habitat for Humanity Home is located at 404 North State Street in Sorento, just north of the railroad tracks.
