Madison County Coroner Stephen P. Nonn says the investigation continues into an early morning traffic crash Monday that claimed the life of a Benton, Illinois woman.
44 year-old Diana M. Reginato, of Benton, was the front seat passenger in a vehicle heading south on IL Rt. 4 in St. Jacob Township. The driver, Reginato’s daughter, fell asleep and her car ran off the road and struck a tree. A passer-by reported the crash at 2:06 a.m. ASt. Joseph’s Hospital emergency room physcian pronounced Reginato dead. Both Diana Reginato, and her daughter, 25 year-old Nichole M. Reginato, of El Dorado, IL, were wearing seatbelts. Airbags did deploy.
Nichole Reginato was air-lifted to a St. Louis hospital for treatment of injuries that at this time do not appear to be life threatening.
