Several local hunting organizations are sponsoring an Outdoor Youth Day this Saturday, August 2 at Patriot’s Park.
“This is our third Outdoor Youth Day,” Greg Zykan, president of the local Whitetails Unlimited chapter, told WGEL. “It’s put on by a variety of different local hunting and outdoor organizations, such as Whitetails Unlimited, the National Wild Turkey Federation, and Quail Forever. We’re pretty much all pitching in and hosting a free Outdoor Youth Day for children ages eight to 15.
“It starts at 8 o’clock in the morning and registration is required. We should wrap up events at noon, followed by a free lunch and dessert.”
Zykan said the event will include waterfowl demonstrations with a retriever dog, a K9 demonstration by the Bond County Sheriff’s Department, BB gun training, 3D archery, and more.
Youth ages eight to 15 can sign up for the event through the end of the day Friday. To register, or for more information, call Greg Zykan at 339-8112.
