The Mulberry Grove Board of Education meeting Monday was the first regular meeting for new Superintendent Brad Turner and new Jr./Sr. High School Principal Caleb Thompson.
Superintendent Turner reported the district received the fourth transportation state aid payment and the fourth general state aid payment. Current fund balances look good. Turner said he expects state aid for the coming year to be 89 percent of full funding.
Plumbing work scheduled for summer is completed. Clean hot water is now available throughout the building.
The board approved the bid by Flowers Bakery Company for bread products for the district for the coming school year. Turner said prices for some of the items have gone up slightly.
Updates and changes to school policy in the student handbook were approved for the 2014-2015 school year.
Following a closed session, the board approved a 60-day leave of absence for Roberta Phillips. They hired Justin Joiner, Junior High Baseball Coach; Cody Brimberry, Assistant Junior High Baseball Coach; Jim Quick, High School Volleyball Coach; and Lindy Zeeb, Assistant High School Volleyball Coach.
A tentative budget hearing is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. prior to the regular meeting Monday, August 18.
