Several local hunting organizations have joined together to present an Outdoor Youth Day this Saturday, August 2 at Patriot’s Park.
“We’ll have several different demonstrations going on,” local Whitetails Unlimited Chapter President Greg Zykan told WGEL. “We’ll have a water fowl demonstrations with a retriever dog. Dave Dunn from the Bond County Sheriff’s Department will do a K9 demonstration. We’ll be doing a BB gun trailer display, where kids can shoot BB guns at different objects such as balloons and targets. We’ll have a 3D archery range. Treehouse [Wildlife Center] out of Alton will be there, too. They basically help rehabilitate injured wildlife, such as birds, and they’ll bring some animals with them as well.”
Free lunch will be served at the event as well.
Youth ages 8 to 15 can sign up for the Outdoor Youth Day through the end of the day Friday, August 1. To register, or for more information, call Greg Zykan at 339-8112.
