Unit 2 Registration Held August 5 – 11

Registration for Bond County Community Unit #2 elementary and high school students will be held August 5 – 11.

Registration at Greenville Elementary and Greenville Junior High Schools will be held Tuesday, August 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Wednesday, August 6 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. Greenville High School registration will be Wednesday, August 6 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Thursday, August 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Registration at the Pocahontas Center will be Thursday, August 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sorento Center registration will be Friday, August 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

High School registration for new students to the district is August 11th.  Parents should call 664-1370 to schedule an appointment.

All students in kindergarten, sixth, and ninth grades must present evidence of a completed physical examination and immunizations.  Every student entering these grades is required to have two doses of varicella, and one Tdap injection after age 11 years old.  All students in kindergarten, second, and sixth grades must present evidence of a dental exam.  Kindergarten is required to have vision screening (from an optometrist).  New students must provide a birth certificate.  Registration cannot be completed without this documentation.  New students moving in from out of IL need a physical, up- to- date immunizations, and an eye exam (from an optometrist).  Students who owe charges from the previous year will be expected to pay those before registering for the current year.

Unit #2 schools will begin the fall schedule with a Teacher In service Day on August 18th, while all students will begin classes August 19th, with a 1 hour early dismissal.  1 hour early dismissal will be observed August 19th – 22nd.

GES will host a Back to School Carnival sponsored by the Parent Club on Monday, August 18th from 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.  Students may drop off their supplies and meet teachers from 5:00 p.m. – 5:45 p.m., and enjoy Carnival games from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.  Kindergarten Orientation (Parents Only) will be held on Monday, August 11th at 6:00 p.m. in the GES cafeteria. GES will host a Kindergartener and Family Welcome Breakfast in the cafeteria on Tuesday, August 19th from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.  Kindergarten students do not ride the bus.  Kindergarten students and family go to the classroom for “First Day” activities and photos at 9:15 a.m., and go home with parents at 10:30 a.m.  The first day for Kindergarten students to be transported on buses will be on Wednesday, August 20th.  There will be no family visitors on this day.

Pocahontas will host a ‘Back to School Night’ on Monday, August 18th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Fifteen-minute rotations will be held during this time for students to bring their school supplies to their classrooms and parents to hear more details about the school year.  Kindergarten students are to bring their school supplies with a parent/guardian on Tuesday, August 19th, the first day of school.  Kindergarten students do not ride the bus.  Kindergarten students and family go to the classroom for “First Day” activities at 9:00 a.m., and go home with parents at 10:30 a.m.  The first day for Kindergarten students to be transported on buses will be on Wednesday, August 20th.

Greenville Jr. High will host an Open House on Monday, August 18th from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.  All students will have the opportunity to walk-thru and bring school supplies.

The ECE/KRP classes at Greenville Elementary will begin August 25th.
