Greenville firefighters were called back to the scene of the fire at South Central FS this morning around 8:00 a.m. A portion of the area damaged by fire had re-ignited. Crews from Mulberry Grove and Smithboro provided mutual aid. Fire personnel were on the scene for about an hour and 10 minutes.
WGEL spoke with Roger Marcoot at South Central FS about the fire and how the operation will still be able to service their customers.
“The fire affected our feed warehouse and the Country Depot store here at South Central FS,” said Marcoot. “We unfortunately were not open Monday. We have extensive damage to our feed inventory and we’re in the process of replacing core ingredients so that we can service our customers’ needs. With a little cooperation we’ll be able to take care of everybody’s needs. We are evaluating some alternatives, but we will have feed and pet food available by Tuesday and customers are welcome to come by South Central FS to take care of their needs there.”
Marcoot said deliveries from South Central FS will not be interrupted due to the fire.
