Health Department Hears HVAC, Property Tax Updates

At their recent meeting, the Bond County Board of Health heard a report from Administrator Mark Ayers about the health department’s HVAC system. Ayers said after cooling issues in the building, it was determined that the system is undersized in at least two zones. The HVAC system is a 5-ton system, but the duct work is only rated for 3.5 tons. Ayers said they are looking into the issue.

Ayers also reported that the recent property tax assessment issue facing several taxing bodies in Bond County would impact two of the health department’s accounts, to the tune of $4,200. Ayers said while that was budgeted money, the impact is better than originally expected.

West Nile testing on mosquito batches in Bond County continues with no positive tests yet this summer. The department is awaiting the arrival of flu vaccines for the upcoming flu season. Ayers said once the vaccines are received, they will be made available to the public.
