Hills Fort will fly a special American flag Thursday, August 7.

“At approximately 3:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon, a group that are sponsoring a new Navy ship, the USS America, are taking an American Flag around the country to various places, and they have asked Hills Fort to, as they say, run the flag up and down the pole,” Bill Johnson with the Hills Fort Society told WGEL. “We will give them a certificate, verifying that their flag was flown over Hills Fort. The idea is to take this flag to as many places as possible.

“It’s open to the public and we’d like to have as many guests as we could get, so come on out.”

The Hills Fort replica is located at the American Farm Heritage Museum, south of Greenville.
