Mulberry Grove Board Approves Tentative Budget

At their meeting Monday, the Mulberry Grove Board of Education approved a tentative budget for 2014-2015. Superintendent Brad Turner presented the tentative budget and highlighted areas of concern. Anticipated income is approximately $20,000.00 less than the previous year. The transportation fund looks good due to an extra payment last year.

In the treasurer’s report, Turner said the two general state aid payments for August have been vouchered and are expected to be received on time.

An elementary school open house is scheduled for Thursday, August 28, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. A back-to-school carnival is also Thursday, from 6:00 – 8:00.

Security work on the west school entrances is expected to begin this week.

The board approved repairs and replacement of some parts of the water heater for the kitchen and elementary school.

Following an executive session, the board approved a maternity leave for teacher Lyndsey Beckham, accepted the resignation of bus driver Wayne Jackson, and hired Beverly Joiner long-term food service sub. The board also hired Emily Griffin as high school scholar bowl coach, Jordan Zeeb as assistant high school baseball coach, and Juli Kastl as junior high/high school social studies teacher.
