Recent Rain Will Benefit Farmers

Farmers around Bond County have been in need of rain for several weeks. Bond and Fayette County Farm Bureau Manager Stephanie Kraus told WGEL the recent showers were definitely welcome.

“We definitely needed the rain,” Kraus said. “It’s good for everyone, really. It should help out with all the crops, especially the beans because they’re still growing. It shouldn’t affect us, harvest-wise. I think we’re still looking good and we should have some good yields with getting the rains now.”

Kraus said at this point she’s expecting an early-September start date for this year’s harvest.
