The Greenville City Council has called a special meeting for Tuesday, September 2. The agenda calls for discussion of an application for a medical marijuana cultivation facility, including a presentation by Mike Donnewald and Scott Hawkins, and the possible execution of an option for purchase of Industrial Park land for a medical marijuana cultivation facility.
City Manager Dave Willey talked with WGEL about the proposed medical marijuana cultivation facility.
“This is an indoor growing facility, which will provide medical marijuana for dispensaries licensed elsewhere in the area,” Willey said. “The facility will be fully secure and away from populated areas of any kind.
“Applications for a cultivation license in one of the 22 Illinois State Police districts will be accepted starting September 8. Mike Donnewald is proceeding toward filing an application and purchasing the necessary land from the City of Greenville in the Wolf Industrial Park.
“This facility, if awarded, will produce both jobs and tax revenue. We look forward to having more information from the applicant.”
