Bond County to File Insurance Claim for Assessment Error

The Bond County Board met Tuesday night at the courthouse. The county has filled an insurance claim through their Errors and Omissions coverage to try and recoup $524,352 in tax money that was not collected due to an assessment error. State’s Attorney Chris Bauer told WGEL that the claim has been submitted to Illinois Counties Risk Management Trust, where Bond County has its coverage. Bauer said that a meeting between the county and the insurance trust could happen next week. It’s hoped the insurance claim will help local taxing bodies recoup the lost funds. There is no time frame for how long the claims process may take or if the claim may be disputed by the insurance company.
