For the first time in the 23 year history of Apple Day, a chili cook-off will be part of the festivities. The Greenville Chamber of Commerce and Greenville Lion’s Club are co-sponsoring the contest, which begins at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4 near the gazebo. There is a $10 entry fee. You must be 18 or older and entries are limited to one per person. Prizes will be awarded for Best Beef Chili, Best Vegetarian Chili, Spiciest Chili, and Best Bean Chili. Judges will make their selections based upon color, aroma, consistency, and taste.
Contestants must bring chili in a crockpot or slow cooker to the contest site and must be ready for judging at 11:00 a.m. Following the contest, the public may taste all of the entries for only $5.00. For more information, contact the Greenville Chamber of Commerce at 664-9272.
