Unit 2 School Board Seats Up For Election

The Bond County Unit 2 School District will have four school board seats to be filled in the April 7, 2015 Consolidated Election. Candidates who are elected will fill three four-year terms, currently held by Scott Gaffner, James Jackson, and Nate Prater, expiring in April 2019, and one two-year term, currently held by Vance Daniken, expiring in April 2017.

Candidates for the office of school board are now able to begin to circulate nominating petitions for signatures. The period for filing nominating papers runs from December 15 through December 22, 2014.

Unlike previous years, changes in the state election laws have moved the responsibility of school board elections from the local board secretary to the county clerk. Candidates for school board will not file any paperwork at the local district. The county clerk will have forms available or blank petitions may be downloaded from the State Board of Elections website at elections.il.gov.
